Biopharmaceutical company seeking Regional Clinical Sales Specialist in Rare Disease/Medical Food in West Region for an established start up field sales organization and eventually expanding with new territories in the near future as sales revenue grows. Company objective is to provide patients with therapeutic relief in serious diseases with high unmet medical need. Focus is on clinical-stage programs based on molecules with a history of clinical use (well-established safety and tolerability) and either initial human activity or efficacy data (proof of concept) or a strong scientific rationale. This allows us to identify molecules where clinical development can be swift (trials with evaluation windows of weeks or months) and cost effective.

Company pipeline, with both commercial products for the treatment of a rare disease as well as promising clinical-stage programs for the treatment of a rare dermatology condition are just of the few innovations ongoing with successful future patient treatments.

The Regional Clinical Sales Specialist will develop commercial relationships and value-adding activities to promote and maximize access to company medical food product with key customers and metabolic centers in the region. The position requires strong business acumen, a CEO mindset, and the ability to work independently within a complex rare disease healthcare environment.  The role will report to the Country Lead – US Head of Sales.

Furthermore, a recent acquisition of further diversifies Company’s pipeline, with both commercial products for the treatment of phenylketonuria (PKU), and promising clinical-stage programs for the treatment of epidermolysis bullosa (EB).

 Responsibilities:

  • Develop brand awareness and drive sales of company first U.S. launch of product for patients living with phenylketonuria (PKU), a rare, inherited metabolic disorder that causes an abnormal build-up of phenylalanine in the body.
    • When untreated, PKU can cause brain damage, cognitive deficits, behavioral symptoms, and seizures
  • This medical food product that is currently being marketed by its affiliates/partners in Europe.
    • Medical food products are a critical component of lifelong management of PKU, along with diet and FDA-approved therapies
  • Establish and maintain valuable business relationships with key PKU decision makers in priority accounts e.g., Dieticians at Pediatric Genetic/Metabolic Centers of Excellence.
  • Develop insights-based Business Plans for top accounts/customers.
  • Independent planning, organization and execution of multiple live and digital activities for optimal customer experience and engagement e.g., email, virtual customer engagement and other innovative tools that increase the number of touch points with our customers.
  • Ability to accurately forecast sales and drive revenues and market penetration to exceed Company Sales Goals set forth by the US Head of Sales.
  • Conduct outreach to KOLs and leading metabolic institutions to build effective partnerships for HCP and patient education
    • Identify KOLs for participation in the U.S. Speakers Bureau
  • Ability to staff booth at appropriate conferences (this may require night and weekend travel).
  • Collaboratively share product launch learnings and competitive insights with sales teammates, Sales Leadership, Marketing, Market Access, etc.
  • Achieve all established field activity metrics- promotional material utilization, reach and frequency, product utilization, etc.
  • Build effective cross-functional partnerships with Marketing, Market Access, Medical, Regulatory, and Legal.
  • Understanding of, and compliance with all pharmacovigilance and regulatory policies set forth by the Company.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required; MBA degree strongly preferred
  • 8 – 10+ years of U.S. sales experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on rare disease, metabolics, and specialty neurology/dermatology
  • Previous launch experience required
  • Effective teamwork skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; proactive cross-functional communicator
  • Proven record of sales success in target therapeutic areas
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight and direction
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and rapidly changing start-up environment
  • Strong desire and vision to build a new organization with a clear vision for the future
  • Ability to approach Regional Clinical Sales Specialist role with a CEO Mindset and manage a multi-state territory requiring up to 50% overnight travel.

$150K - $190K+ plus Qtrly Bonus + Long Term Incentives/Stock Options
